Wild Dolphin Eco-Adventure
There’s nothing quite like the dolphin snorkel Kona’s most popular daytime snorkel tour. A fun, 2-hour adventure. We gear up and head out of Honokohau harbor early in search of wild spinner dolphins. A friendly guide will educate and inform you about the fascinating and lovable behaviors of our wild dolphins. If we are lucky we will get to see them up close!
Wild Dolphins of Kona
Cruise along Kona’s magical coast. Every stop offers the potential to view the playful and personable dolphins in their natural habitat. It’s a perfect way to spend a day on your vacation to Kona, Hawaii and create memories that will last a lifetime.
Our day starts early in the morning when we gear up and get ready to slip into the warm waters off the Kona Coast. We depart the harbor and cruise along the coast in search of dolphins and other large marine life. Kona has much more than dolphins in it’s waters. If we’re lucky we may see other large animals like whales or even a whale shark!
Kona’s dolphins hunt at night offshore and come into Kona’s bays to sleep during the day. As an eco-conscious company we at Kona Snorkel Trips try our best to minimize the disturbance we cause to these magnificent creatures. When we find a pod of dolphins we will observe them first before attempting to get in the water with them. Sometimes dolphins don’t want to be bothered in which case we may only view them from the surface. Other times they are quite playful and welcoming in which case we may try to view them in the water. It’s the dolphin’s choice! The smaller size of our boat allows us to maneuver into position and reduces the sound made which can disturb their sleep.
When you put your face in the water, you’ll be amazed at all the beautiful and colorful life that lives just beneath the surface. Get your camera ready to film bright schools of fish, octopus, eels, as well as see the different varieties of coral found in Hawaii. The marine life includes angelfish, lizard fish, schools of butterflyfish, and many other species.
Who Should Go On This Tour
The Dolphin Snorkel trip is a great adventure for couples, families, friends, and groups that want to get the most out of their Kona, Hawaii vacation. No snorkeling experience is necessary and children (ages 3+) are welcome, but basic swimming skills are required. Those under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
We set out on an exhilarating cruise along the Kona coast, keeping a watchful eye to observe the Hawaiian spinner dolphins in their natural habitat as they head to protective coves and bays to rest after a long night of hunting. We will then cruise out into the blue to search for other pelagic animals like bottlenose dolphins, pilot whales, spotted dolphins – you just never know what the ocean will deliver – maybe even a whale shark!
Dolphins are wild animals and sometimes they decide not to visit us in Kona. In the event that dolphins are not around we will move to a gorgeous snorkel spot full of life. Snacks and drinks are provided during this trip.
If we fail to find dolphins we offer a dolphin guarantee allowing you to come back for free on a standby basis. If we are going out again and there is space available we would be happy to take you out again for free!🐬

Wild Dolphins of Kona
Many people visit us each year to swim with dolphins Kona Snorkel Trips prides itself on our delivery of the best dolphin experience for guests and dolphins. Kona’s beautiful coast has many pods of dolphins up and down the coast. Sometimes we might even see them as we depart the harbor! Spinner dolphins can be quite playful spinning and jumping out of the water making big splashes as they hit the water with great force. They also like to ride the bow wake of boats using it to get an easy ride. They aren’t always so playful though. Depending on the pod sometimes they will be much more mellow. This is why it’s important we act responsibly in our interaction with them.
